An Angry Aristotle

“Anybody can become angry – that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way – that is not within everybody’s power and is no easy.”

 -Aristotle

Don’t be angry at this idea, take a moment and think on it. Then allow yourself to use that focused energy to dispel the myth that anger isn’t proxy to your other emotions; lest it be forgotten in flurries of unacceptance or denial and still genial to our core processes. There is nothing wrong with anger, it comes akin to passion and prevents blind acceptance. Anger can be a lever to push the objects of misfortune, making way for success by the way of personal dedications. Subjected to aspirations of satisfaction, anger may heed desire eclipsing any obstacle on route to success and be the fuel firing the pistons onto the next great accomplishment, as each step in the past is left just as such; the past.

Anybody can become angry. The simple question is why are you angry? Has a bully stolen your candy? Are you being teased by a candy you want but have not yet attained? Is the candy really what is bothering you? What specifically is the focus of your anger? This is where to start and could lead you to where you may likely finish. In that moment, insurance of your anger being just that, not hatred, must also be treated and potentially cured. As a person acting in hate tends to be also in haste, not in thought and lost to a primal emotion that only creates further cruelty when our goal here is to use a stronger, more intelligent emotion wisely; to become the cure to the situations ailment. So why are you angry, with whom and to what end? This answer could be your start and finish before the process is endured to a resplendent end; as its appetency will direct the means with focus and drive.

Linear to the anger, time passes without pause or recognition, correspondent to the necessity of importance, as anger swells and dissipates, meticulously managing its course to conclusive end; whether that be one of constructive or destructive culmination alike. Just so, application of the anger in conjunction with time is paramount because now is when the determination of what degrees upon your actions it should be applied. Too much anger may lead to hate, solving no problems. Too little could leave your fuel to dwindle and be replaced with complacency. Therein lies the manifestation of anger to purposeful action, in that secreted moment only known to yourself, is the degree you must use anger to its rightful ends in progressive succession to righteous purpose. And this purpose is let on by time, thought, and assertion and may not be an easy road to travel; however it will certainly be the only lane one must grasp to find the lights of denouement possessed from within.

Finally, it is my belief that anger should be partnered with love. In doing so, the soul manifested with love will easily helm the machine powered by directed anger in such a fashion that there is no possible negative outcome. Love is unmatched in capacity for action, unrelenting in nature, possessive by design and an unstoppable force once set to motion. Seemingly, this would underline the point that anger could only be used in the right way in forbearance to all accomplishments; and that way is the coupling of love. Fortune is said to favor the bold and the bold tend to be a passionate group and passion is described by controlled emotion, put to use by the bold in thoughtful means. What could be bolder then a person driven by love and fueled by anger, directed just so, on purpose and rightfully minded?

So you see, it is my belief that Aristotle is right, use anger as well as the complete range of your emotions skillfully and prosperity will triumph. Lest anger evolve to hate, your judgements could remain unclouded so that reason may lead you from argument to achievement by way of the sublimation of anger to induced mutual reward. Let love guide these travels and one will not be dragged by the undercurrents of hatred to failure. And most important, as time passes and steps are left behind, however not forgotten; know that our growth will ultimately be our greatest treasure to be held by all graced in your presence.
